Can anyone confirm who sets the BAK exam?? Are the questions written by each flight training school or does CASA issue a master list and the school select the questions.

The CFI at each school is responsible for writing and/or approving the BAK exams as well as the Pre-solo and the pre-area solo.

Mind you, I have seen exams at a few schools (mainly AUF) where the questions looked very similar to the practice questions in the T. Thom or Bob Tait textbook...

pre-solo air legislation may be given orally, or in writing. the pre-solo area examination and BAK must be written.

all exams set by the flying school but CFIs are responsible for conducting the examination (although this may be delegated) and recording the results.
