Hi,
I am a 33 year old aviation professional with over 10 years experience in Flight Operations and Air Traffic Control. Most recently I was a Operations Supervisor for a large Handling Agent at Europe's fourth largest airport. I am extremely experienced in Weight and Balance (BABS/RTB, Unimatic, Arco, Lido, Resibér, Geatan & more), Flight Planning (Jeppesen, SITA, Phoenix, Sabre, Unimatic), ATC/CFMU procedures, coordination & dispatch, instruction and much, much more. Unfortunately, I was lured into the dream or becoming an airline pilot by FTO marketing people projecting a future in flying. Now, a year after graduating, my IR has expired and I cannot bear so sent another application to Chief Pilots that tell you that all your experience doesn't count unless you have a 1000 hours. I'd rather do what I have always enjoyed and that is working in the never-boring, always-exciting world of Flight Operations, c.q. Dispatch. Sadly though, whenever I apply to a ground-ops job, I get the reply that I wouldn't be considered because I'd be off flying soon, despite the fact that I will probably need very little introduction to do any job in this field.
Anyway, I won't be off flying soon, because I had given myself a year to try and it has not happened, so there is no reason to think that this would change. So there, who is bold enough to give me a suitable position? I'd prefer the LHR/LGW area as this would prevent any relocation on my part (I live near the M25/M3 junction, near Bracknell).

Any useful response highly appreciated.

Cheers!

I hear Transair out of Dublin might be looking for people. Virgin Express Brussels were looking for Flight Watchers ex BRU, don't know if the vacancies are still open though. If you look at their web site it has the available Jobs Section.

Have you tried Buzz/Britania?

Good Luck

Don't forget British European at Exeter..always on the look-out for good Operations/Crewing Staff. Just beware of South-Western salaries..but a lovely place to live

Britannia are still on the scowl for long-haul Dispatch (I think) and it's always worth writing for Ops/Crewing jobs.

Can you give me an idea of what to expect in "South-Westerm salaries", other than low? That were my neck o'th' woods 20 year back and I'm entertaining the thought of returning.

Many thanks!

What about NATS as an ATSA (Air traffic services assistant)?

They may only offer 12 month contracts at LATCC due to Swanwick. Also, TAG Aviation at Farnborough may be expanding soon.

Failing that, a FISO job (Fairoaks, Waltham or Blackbushe is close to you).

Good luck

Gee what it must be to have such a marvellous CV off-blox. Here we have some-one using this forum as means to post his abbreviated CV in the hope any prospective employers may read it and be inclined to offer a position, and what do you do  treat it like some kid in a playground – mines bigger than yours/my dad drives a Rolls Royce.

As I have spent the last 10 years of my extensive aviation career in management I know my CV is better than yours! http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net4/thefinger.gif

Isn’t it about time you discarded the dummy and grow up

Lalapanzi,
thanks for your support, but I am sure (or at leat I hope) that Off-Blox only had the best intentions.

Bright-Ling,
thanks for your tips. Excellent stuff mate! I recently filled in the online form for Student ATCO on the NATS site, but haven't heared yet. I'd certainly be interested in a ATSA position. Also a FISO
job at the airport you mentioned would be fine with me. Fairoaks and Blackbushe are indeed only 10 minutes away. I dont know about TAG. What do they do? I recently drove up to FBH, but the coorporate aviation area looks like a fortress with all the barriers and security around. My planw as to just drop in a few offices and show my face and CV, but I was scared off by all the fences. I might try once more. Again, thanks for your excellent suggestions. Much appreciated!

Courtman,
I got myself a form from BY for the ETOPS Dispatch job, but after filling in their form for the pilot job and being rejected because I was one year over 30, I just couldn't bring myself to filling the same form in all again. I'd really like the job though, so I may have another go. Call it form-fatigue or so.

Merlin,
I am still attempting to convince Don darby to give me a flying job, but he's not playing ball. I'll give him another call and mention I can do Ops thingies as well.

Cheers!

Deep Float......have e-mailed you with some details.

TAG Aviation: http://www.tagaviation.com/

I would suggest that you phone ATC Recruitment at CAA House in London. I don't know anyone who has had any success with the website application!

Speak to Directory Enquiries. NATS new address is One Kemble Street. They have seperated NATS from the CAA address which is 45-59 Kingsway.

I was recently approached by PARC in Dublin for 6 month contracts in Cyprus & Belgium (OPS) so you could try them.
If you don't fancy that but don't mind a massive cut in salary you could always try GlobeGround at MAN who are currently looking for OPS & Dispatcher Staff.

Deep Float

OPSMAN, thanks for that.
How do PARC work with Ops people?
Do they have a database or like that?
Any info highly appreciated.

It wouldn't have been so bad if you had actually contributed something other than the one liner you have. http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net4/douga25.gif

My posting was in response to that of off-blox, who couldn't like you offer anything constructive http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net4/thefinger.gif

Here you have some-one with a genuine interest in trying to secure employment, and you then have Characters like off-blox offering anything but help. http://smilecwm.tripod.com/sp/kennyico.gif

This thread had lied dormant since the 8th July, then you enter the arena with brillant words of wisedom & advice http://smilecwm.tripod.com/cwm/angryfire.gif

So what offers of employment can you make, and no I haven't either, but then that was not what I responded to. http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net4/popworm.gif

Britannia have lost a couple of crewing people lately and rumours of Ops people leaving too.... Worth writing to again perhaps?

Lala - get a life and stop slagging everyone off. Thats obviously the only thing you are any good for. Who actually cares about what you say anyway. Get real

Lala - you couldn't wind up a clock if you tried .... :) Whilst trying to wind me up though, you leave someone else alone. With a name like "lalapanzi" I think you've wound yourself up somewhere along the line. Oh well, never mind.... http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/tongue.gif
