I have a offer in Kuwait with a police helicopter, somebody can tell me, how is the live working in Kuwait?
Is it dangerous?
Is the job hard along of day?

Hi Joseromi,

I've never been to Kuwait, but I work a little south of there in Saudi Arabia.
I'm told Kuwait is good, though it's still the Middle East. There isn't any alcohol, as well as the other restrictions of muslim life, but over all Kuwaitis are laid back, especially compared to the Saudis.
I'd say that Kuwait is safe. I never hear of any problems there.
Just make sure the pay is worth it, especially if you have to pay for your own rent. Things are getting expensive in parts of the mid-east.

Never been but I have worked with a bloke who did just over a year with the police unit. I think the fact that this job has been advertised for ages on www.aviationjobsearch.co.uk (http://www.aviationjobsearch.co.uk) and there haven't been any takers from the U.K. speaks volumes.

Last year the roster was 9 on 3 off which a lot of people found unacceptable for a job in this location. Pay was around £41,000 tax free. It was interesting that this figure which is equivalent to over £70,000 taxed still did not entice enough engineers.

This would be the job with Specialist Aviation services (PAS). If so they have always had trouble filling the vacancies, partly due to the lower pay for unlicensed engineers that was previously paid by Bristow/FBH. I know a few guys who've been and tried over the years and they have varied views. The accomodation should be included in the deal.

The pay I was quoted was quite a lot less than £41000, more like 36000 if you managed 2 years to pick up the loyalty bonus. As for the Kuwaitis, the lot that were trained up at Shobdon were nice guys and pretty laid back.

I did a couple of years with the kuwait police force air wing when it was run by Bristows. They only had EC135 then but now they also have AS365. They were building a new hangar when I left. Accommodation has changed since I left but I believe it is shared now. Pool cars supplied also. The shifts were noon to noon but generally you finished at 6 pm and started again at 6am. Occasional night flying meant you did stay on longer. Every second weekend off. Kuwait is generally better than Saudi but it is still the Middle East. Not a great deal to do in your time off. Eating out is very cheap. Plenty of booze around too regardless of it supposedly being a dry country. The Police management who call the shots do not have an aviation background which makes things difficult at times. The police engineers :bored::bored: are generally nice blokes but of no use whatsoever. I don't think they are interested and they rarely came into the hangar. The rotation could be better. The 9 weeks drag. However, very easy job, slow slow pace of everything. I considered going back but the pay is well short of what it should be. When I was there you didn't have to be licensed but the pay and allowance package was better. Now they want licensed and pay less!! That's why it is continually advertised on job websites! However, I've been to worse places!!

I am thinking to go there, I have speak with Polce Aviation Service (PAS) and is posible that I work in Kuwait with them. I think that is interesting for me, I work in Spain and is the first time that I will go to work to other country and maybe a good place, no dangerous, no crime, and the pay more better than Spain; I had been to deal for go to Nigeria more pay but is a very dangerous country!!
