Hi All,
Can anyone advise me?
I am currently studying for the ATPLs part time. I hope to do the cpl in about 18 months to 2 years. My 12 hours in 2 years is now due by October 11th !!!
Should I renew asap, or let it go ?
Will I need a valid ppl to commence cpl training ?( I have kept up my class one).
Many thanks.:)

You dont need to but currency will reduce cost at the CPL stage .. you can let Oct 11 pass and do a renewal with a PPL FE and then get the currency up to par nearer the time (immed before CPL course commencement) - that may be the cheapest option...

You don't need to keep you Class 1 medical current; you've passed the initial Class 1 at Gatwick and therefore, you could let your Class 1 lapse into a Class 2 and, when you come nearer to being a commercial pilot, simply renew your Class 1 with your local AME.

but the cost of the class 1 can be cheaper than a class two so maybe keeping it current might be just as easy.
