Greetings!

Although I've already pretty much made up my mind, I was wondering if I could get a bit of insight from fellow aviators who may have potentially had to make the same decision.

I currently have the opportunity to be potentially employed by either Cathay Pacific Airways or Qatar Airways, and was wondering what any of you in the know would pick if you were in the same situation (taking everything into consideration, as a whole). I know everyone's ideal "cup of tea" will be different, but just would like to get some feedback. Perhaps a reason for why would be good, if you can sum it up without writing a book ;). Thanks for any replies!

Without writing a book, I can sum it up in two sentences:

Use the Search Option. Lots of stuff written about both.

I very much have, and to be perfectly honest, there's not that much info on QR. There used to be, then it suddenly dissappeared, and now tid bits are popping up again.

Besides, I'm trying to make a major, life changing decision here (if I make a move, I don't plan on leaving my next airline). That being said, you can never have enough information, and I'm hoping there are people on here that had to make a choice between these two particular airlines in the past that can shed some light on my question. I'm not taking this lightly and it never hurts to get more information where possible.

Doha is becoming slowly but surely a saturated city, developing well beyond his capacity....
This remind me an article i saw in the newspaper here maybe one year ago, telling that Qatar is gone be the Switserland of the middle east....No guys donīt laugh itīs true....i saw it!
I can only see 3 options:

Either the guy who wrote this article has never been to Qatar or ..Switserland
Either he has a great sense of Humor
Or Either he wrote this article under the influence of Alcohol...:ouch:

I think Qatar WILL be an excellent choice. They are growing tremendously and extremely stable financially. I will be joining soon, I also had a choice, either G5 corporate- Fortune 100 in the United States(HOME, compensation package equivalent to QR) or Qatar Airways, and Doha will in fact be one of the most prospering cities in the world in the coming future(infrastructure, developement, real estate,business,etc...) I also have friends at Cathay( which by the way is also an excellent airline career choice) growth will be slower than QR and total compensation and seniority potential at QR is greater. At the end of the day, its your personal choice but theyre both great airlines.:ok:

Maybe you need to read more of what have been said so far about Doha and especially QR. Plenty of useless whinig but surely many true stories that would rapidly make you change your mind and the way you see the world...it's not always flowers and butterlies:hmm:

Pls try to be more consistent in your considerations.

During my last visit in Doha, 2 days ago, I had the impression that the city was empty very far away from beeing saturated in a short time.
Lots of new restaurants, malls, sports facilities I visited were almost empty. Driving was easier than in New York, Paris, or Rome...
I dont understand what u mean by saying "developing well beyond his capacity...." since when you build there you dont have mountains, hills to blow up to build over a motorway or a skyscraper but just desert sand.
This country has huge possibilities, and the future is on Doha side.
They can grow up taking advantage of others experience by not doing same mistakes (compared to other realities in the Gulf for exemple).

Quality of life ? yes maybe u are right nowadays is a bit poor , but I think here in Doha to enjoy your stay you must be here with your family and be in contact with other expat otherwise you may succumb in your loneliness.

Yes of course itīs Ramadan now...so quiet empty and save on the road at least during day time...(restaurant closed, coffee shop closed, some sport club...)!!
What i mean is that the city is developping like crazy...but the road infrastructure is not following the same curve...Most of the time now you better have to choice the right slot to go out(shopping,bank....),otherwise you may end up in a total mess....
And i donīt known how they gone solve that problem,itīs just getting worse and worse year after year.....:hmm:
