Hi all !

I am looking at a position being offered in the gulf reigon, flying a SE turbo prop, oftern over the water.

A coulple of red flags here!!!!

1) What is the security situation like at the moment, both on the ground and in the air?

2) What are the major hazards in the Gulf reigon, (besides the obvious ones, like of getting my feet wet in event of an engine failure!)

3) Where is the best place to obtain weather, and in the event that we may have to ditch, the sea state infomation?

Any infomation or comments will be most appreciated!

flying a SE turbo prop, oftern over the waterI don't know what typical flights you'll be doing. Just don't stray into Iraq or Iran unnoticed. The wx info is available at any of the major airports and that includes enroute wind/hisig/surface charts along with Notams.
The "the sea state information" needs a bit of exploring but I think most of them have a local area chart with the sea state info on it, but I am not sure.
Check: http://www.uaemet.gov.ae/marine.php and also check this site for more detailed info from the Americans: https://metocph.nmci.navy.mil/OTSR/ag.txt
among other ones. I believe you worst worry will be crossing the Gulf between Qatar and the UAE or vice-versa.
