HELP!
Anyone know any drinking establishments open in Bahrain during Ramadan this year?
Just came back from an overseas trip and arrived back on the first day of Ramadan and did not get time to go to Gulf Celllar to stock-up :(.

Hey Lefty

If you are not a member of the British, Dilmun, Rugby or Yacht clubs then you could try the Country club. They are serving booze and more or less let anyone in, well wnyone from a western country that is :}

The only nice beach in the country...it's a little reef about 10 miles east of the Yacht Club that gets cleaned off by the tide every day. Great place to go and have a BBQ/beer, quite popular on weekends.
Unless you're one heck of a swimmer you'll need a baot to get there though :)

Thanks for the clarity! Was (vaguely) aware of the island but thought I'd missed a watering hole.

Ever hopeful of finding somewhere outside the 'big' four...

Cheers.

Jarada's the one covered by the high tide..bird is the one more popular when the seas get a bit choppy as it is on the protected side of bahrain
Jarada is a zoo on weekends, but weekdays its all yours cleanest beach around...the whole thing is a beach

Is it close to Qatar?

Jarada is pretty close to Qatar, yes. So much so the Bahrainis and their 'brothers' have been fighting over it for yonks. About 20 years ago the Qataris blew it up, but the sand reformed and the Bahrainis built the lighthouse. Quite comical really.

I think the whole thing was sorted out when they did Hawar (another GREAT deal...Bahrain gets the pointless rock and a few birds, Qatar get all the natural gas and more money than they can ever dream of...)

You also need a pretty decent boat...I wouldn't want to go there with anything less than 250hp onboard if you had kids with you.

Jarada was due east of mosque island as I remember,just over the horizon was also known as snake island.
