Hey guys/girls I have an aptitude & personality test coming up next week for CityJet in Dublin and I was hoping to find out what kind of layout its going to be ? I did a search on this and I got a couple of websites leading to various aptitude tests which was great, but I was hoping for information from people that have gone through it recently. If you could give me any recommendations on what areas to brush upon or even websites that would offer the similar format I would greatly appreciate it. Also if there is any F/O reading this would you mind telling me what kind of terms and conditions you were offered and the salary you started off on (after tax),,, there seems to be a lot of different opinions on here,,,, you can PM me if you like,,, Cheers Lads:ok:

Hi all,
I did the aptitude tests recently and they were pretty straight forward. There were four sets of tests, all multi choice:
1: numeracy
eg:
156
-10A
-----
49
What is A?
.
2: mechanical reasoning
eg: if pulley A turns anti-clockwise which way does pulley C turn.
.
3: spatial assembly - a three dimensional object unassembled and you have to determine what it looks like when assembled.
.
4: sequences - three sequential diagrams and you have to choose the diagram which would be next in the sequence.
In fact I've done these same tests three times (failed the first time and passed the other two attempts) and they have always been the same. I would recommend a book called "How to Master Psychometric Tests" by Mark Parkinson which will help you brush up.

The key is to watch your time, sounds obvious but you will find yourself running out of time very quickly if you ponder too much. Dont expect to finish all the questions - just concentrate on getting as many correct answers as you can in the limited time. I found the best technique personally was to go through the paper picking out those questions that were easy and then going back to the ones that needed a bit more thought.
Oh and there is no negative marking so make sure you at least answer every question. Make sure you have a watch with you because there wont be a clock in the room - 5 minutes before you finish answer all questions in the section that you haven't yet answered - just tick something - you can't make it any worse!

Be careful about the answer paper also - in the test there are 4 possible answers A-D but there are five answer squares on the answer paper A-E - its really easy to get the answer as "D" (the 'last' option) and then accidentally mark E (the 'last' answer option on the paper) - I hope that makes sense?
As for the personality test, dont sweat that one - it's all common sense eg: are you at ease within a group of people or do you prefer to be on your own?... that kind of stuff. They say there's no right or wrong answers but if you answer that you would prefer to be on your own.... :ugh:
The same questions are reapeated but reworded to make them seem different. This for me is the worst test possible because there are something like 250 questions - it just goes on and on... very tedious!! :rolleyes:
But the key is consistency!

At the end of the personality test questions there are half a dozen other simple questions which go along the lines of CALF is to COW as PUPPY is to...?
A:Cat
B:Bull
C: Dog
D:Milk
.
Hopefully you picked out Dog? :D

One thing to be aware of as well is that they also note your dress code and their first impressions of you are marked on your score sheet so be on your best behaviour! (At least until you get out of the door anyway!! :) )

Did you take the tests 3 times with cityjet?
Also what other mechanical reasoning stuff did they ask you besides cw/anti cw stuff, did they ask any hinges questions or any other tricky questions?

I have the 1st stage of testing with cityjet next month. Could someone please tell me if it is just the numeracy, mechanical, spatial, sequences and personality tests. Also how long is each test likely to last?

I have been told that expect the tests to last 4 hours and that seems a long time for just 5 aptitude tests, so was wondering if there was any sort of interview?

Finally if successful how soon are you invited to the next stage?

Hello!

Has anyone been on the Cityjet aptitude tests recently?
I went to the CTC stage 2 computer testing a while ago in Bournemouth which I purchased the PILAPT apptitude testing prep software. Unfortunately I had my Macbook with the software on stolen a few months ago.
Can I expect similar tests for Cityjet so should I reorder the software??
If not similar I would appreciate it if any of you could shed some light on the contents of the tests and how you prepared for them??:confused:

I have just been told that I have passed the aptitude test and invited to an interview. Can anybody tell me what type of questions they are likley to ask? is there a lot of tech or is it just a getting to know you type of thing?

DLR tests. Info can be found on Pilotenboard.de :: Pilotentest (DLR-Test, Lufthansa, AUA, ...) Infos, Ausbildung, Erfahrungsberichte :: Index (http://www.pilotenboard.de/) but you need to understand German. Prep software for this is Skytest.

I have not had the interveiw yet, its at the end of September. I will let you know whats involved after I have done it.

PPL152, I will be for direct entry pilot not the wings scheme.

Found out last week that I passed the aptitude tests I took on 27th Aug in London.

Just wondered whether anyone from a similar time period has been called forward for an interview yet?

Did the aptitude tests on August, 20th (by the way, almost everybody agreed that the math test was not as bad as some Ppruners want us to believe, it only a problem of time allowed to finish), learned i passed on the 28th and that "i would be called to be invited for interview during September".
No call yet on September, 19th:eek:, anybody could share infos or news on their own timeframe?
Any slowing down of hiring or other problems?:uhoh:

Myself and several others were given interveiw dates and then received an email to say that they had to cancel it due to unforseen circumstances. That was 3-4 weeks ago and no word as of yet. I am assuming that they have stopped recruiting for the time being.

Well, I got a call today to offer me another interview date for next week, so whatever the problem was, seems to be OK now. Hope the rest of you get your interviews soon also.
