Another Headset Woes Between two DC Model,

I'm planning to invest on my own headset. I have shortlisted two models.
DC H10-13.4
DC H20-10

well, ok DC13.4 is good, every tells me that, even my intructor says that they're not bad. he is using it himself. Ok, but has anyone tried a DC H20-10? how does that compare to DC13.4?
I would like to know because these headsets are not cheap, if i make the wrong buy, i will be stuck with them for as long as my training goes.

I have a 20-10 , I find it much of a muchness with all DC headsets good quality and the sound is excellent . I do not however find it particularly comfortable on long flights , say 2hrs or more . The design of the bit thats rests on top of your head is a bit weird too. I am 6ft 2 and find that it sits quite high above my head and tends to hit the ceiling of the aircraft as it bounces about , So I have to lower seat more than I would like . If you have a look at one in a shop youll know what I mean . I in hindsight would have bought a different one for this reason alone its an odd design

Have U thought of the FireFly 750? Much cheaper and comfy too. db16 ps - I am biased as I am the agent!!

I have a pair of 20-10XL's. In fact I've two pairs now, having recently bought another for pax's.

I think they are excellent (evidenced by the recent additional purchase). They have much less claming force than the other DC models, and are quire comfoy. The headband refered to above is a little unusual, but I haven't found it a problem....just a matter of setting it up right in the begining.

My only caution is that fact that you're not getting the Electronic Noise Cancelling set. The passive noise reduction isn't bad, but there are probably better passive noise cancelling headsets out there....probably not as comfortable, but quieter. With the ENC, they are excellent, but expensive.

Been there, plumped for the 10-13.4, and... it does what is says on the tin - no complaints. Someone said to me it's the ford escort headset - good, solid, unpretentious, does the job, 1000's out there.

At the end of the day, the headset's probably costing less than a couple of hours flying... don't over analyse!

Marv golden makes an awesome headset, especially if you buy the gel ear pads and stuff for them. cheap and effective...but the noise reduction blows.

The mis match problem with headsets is not a head set issue so much as an avionic fit issue.

Over the last few years this issue has gone away with most private aircraft as the owners have upgraded tha audio systems, most fitting the products that incorperate good intercom systemes that con work well with most of the headsets on the market and without doubt would work with any DC product.

It was common practice about twenty years back to cheapskate in the aircraft radio instalation by using the audio system in the radio as the intercom, it was never intended to do this the only benifit was money was saved by not fitting an intercom.

If the aircraft that you are flying is so equiped it has a very old type audio system and not much money has been spent on it over the years, I suspect that you should be looking at the amont of money the club you are learning with spends overall on maintenance of the aircraft fleet.

I have both and tend to use the 13.4's myself and keep the 20-10's for pax as I suffer the same issues as maxdrypower does.

Still, no complaints and you won't go wrong with DC's
