Hello Folks,
NAS offers a nice deal, 35days on, 31 days off, money is average . A good deal if one likes to spend time at home :).
But off course, there is always a but :oh:. If you get finally to RUH, a lengthy process of training and licence conversion take place. If one don’t have a FAA licence, you have to do the FAA ATP examine in JED (Gaca). Next examine one has to sit is called "air law" (AIP open book). Of course, beside all the test and studies one has to go trough, medical examine are due to.
When you get to the end of the training and conversion program in AMM (JATS), all the Sim check rides are observed by Gaca. The Gaca inspectors coming all from Saudi Airlines, having no clue about Airbus and Airbus procedures :{ (since there all Boing boys).
If you manage to pass the Sim check ride (4 h for each seat):*, one is still not finished. Now you have to face and pass an Oral examine, again 4 h right across the FCOM, Jeppesen and AIP. Don’t forget to carry your medical, otherwise you are NOT accepted for the check ride. And to get you back to AMM is again an different story!
The process to get you to this point can be very long. 10-12 weeks is not unusual- so one has a lot of time to hit the books. Live in RUH is very quiet anyway, so you are not disturbed and distracted. At least the Marriot Hotel offers you gym and pool.
If you think, now is time to go home, you are wrong: =. The NAS contract states, that the "OFF" rotation starts after completion of the training; line training inclusive. So, before you go home and see you family, 25h of line training waiting for you. And again, on the end you will face a Gaca inspector for your final line check. :D :ok:
Before you get home and see your family and friends again, one has to be very patient
and tolerant. The wheels in Saudi turning slow, one is unable to control these things and therefore get very frustrated in between. And the bad part is- NO beer :{ to flush down the frustration.
The whole process to finish the training and get home can be up to 4-5 month.
:ugh:
