I have very vague memories of an Aer Lingus DC3 (I think)that crashed near Redditch at Fernhill Heath in the 50s enroute Dublin-Birmingham. Does anyone know anymore about this incident. There was something about a dog that escaped the wreckage as well!

Didnt know about this crash, the only Aer Lingus DC3 crash I know of is the one at Gwynant Lake in 1952. The Aer Lingus aircraft was flying from Northolt to Dublin and went down in extreme turbulence in Snowdonia.

Passed by the site a couple of times in the 70's.....the markings were still visible on the tail as I recall.....which has / had a habit of surfacing from the bog when it rained.

I also understand the area is consecrated ground as not all the remains were recovered at the time. There was, apparently, a plaque to commemorate the loss of life, but some :mad:decided it would look better in it's home.
