Why does CX like the Rolls Royce engine. Any details please??? Or direction to info.. TY

Hey Barnstorming

You probably won't get asked the question like that.

I believe at one stage the A340 was the only type in the fleet not RR powered. This has now changed with the introduction of non RR powered B744's and 744BCF's (Boeing Converted Freighters). Also if you now count Dragonair as well as Air Hong Kong the company as a whole operates many different engine types.

So where once they had just one, then two engine suppliers, now they have many which increases engineering costs.

The question will more likely now be:

What are the advantages of the RB211? or

Up until recently the only aircraft not RR powered was the A340. Do you know what other engine types Cathay Pacific operate?

Actually, the A340-600 is RR powered.
