Looking at buying a 600A after recently selling Aztec after flying for 5years. I'm a private instrument rated pilot with 500hrs, 350 in the aztruck, and over 50 actual IFR hours, and averaging 75-100 hrs per year.

Two questions .
1. with Machen VG kit and short props, is te 600A safe ?
2. can a pilot with my experience handle the aircraft?

Any other useful info ie 100hrly cost ( annual), and C of G issues?

cheers:\

It is a safe aircraft if you are trained properly and you fly the aircraft as you were trained. To be honest your experience is a little on the low side for the aircraft.

If you fly the Aerostar as you would a jet you would be safer. Go to a good school and fly with an experienced high time Aerostar instructor for at least 10 hours.

(And have fun with the nose gear steering until you get use to it.);)

Well, you´ll be flying a high speed piston, get some time with an instructor to get used to it. Be careful with the turbos, treat them well. I flew aerostar for a while and it´s a nice aircraft.
