Hi there, just writing a piece for a aviation magazine here in the US...info missing is... 1) In Europe do they require pre-employment/random drug and alcohol testing for pilots flying cargo? 2) does the majority of cargo airlines still require you to sign training bonds? Thank you for the info.

Not sure about what the EU requires but, FYI the rules for flying cargo are no different than flying PAX. I have flown both and have never paid a training bond, for that matter I have never paid for any part of the screening process, drug testing medical ect...

Cheers

A hand shake? Lucky you. First bond, paid 15K€, got the money back within 3 years, second bond, bank guarantee for 5 years, third bond, same company, bank guarantee for 3 years, fourth bond, just signed a paper.

Unless you join a major airline, every airline will bond you, some even when you are typerated, just for the refresher.
