Hi I'm tyring to locate airfield briefs for all of the major airfields/destinations world wide. Does anyone know of a central repository or site that has such material?

I'm looking for the basic weather (No not current/TAF/METAR) but what to expect/trends etc. Also looking for associated ATC issues, terrain, obstacles etc.

I've seen the BA airfield manual and I'm looking for similar material, but from all over. Particularly what we'd refer to as Emergency Airfields to support ETOPS.

Many thanks,
Fergus.

Check Jeppesen. Part of the Airway Manual service is written/photographic briefs for 100s of airfields. They have all NA ETOPS listed. Call the guys in Denver &/or check www.jeppesen.com (http://www.jeppesen.com). it's title "Airport Qualification and Familiarization". I hold global coverage, though 'tis now out of date, but use as a a FAM tool for non avtn folks.

Melinxx,
Thanks for the reply.
Yep, I have the subscription and I'm familiar with the overview/weather section. Just wondering if there was other sites with perhaps more weather /pilot observations.

Hi,

I assume you have the photographic overview plates as well?

For a quick ref to historicals, not PIREPS, I use (as one tool & is free & non commercial) www.wunderground.com (http://www.wunderground.com) as you can pull up historicals for any ICAO listed airfield. Though I guess you already do use this site, if not input ICAO/IATA code in search box for latest metar then search for history by date. Hope it helps.

Cheers
