Heard from the grapevine capts on 737-200 get Php 80,000/mo and FO's 50,000...that's usd 1700/1100.

Left Wing,

The answer is no. Even Filipinos with foreign citizenship has to apply for dual citizenship just to apply.

They are buying Dash 8s for regional ops.

Eiffle2,

Air Phil needs pilots but that doesn't mean they are not flooded with applicants. They are after "suitable" candidates not just anyone.

From what I've seen, in one day they had 12-14 interviews and only 4 came back for the 2nd round, then IQ and personality and then medical. After this only 3 came through. Then sim test and only 2 passed. The mortality rate is high ladies and gentlemen. I actually met a guy with 5,000+ hours on turbines and did not make it. So, they are after quality.

They have been interviewing since March this year and only one batch of 10 has been selected. That means they have already interviewed around 1000-1300 applicants or maybe even more. Just some inside info for the aspirants.

Thats good, they're after quality and safety!!! thats the way it should be and not compromise.

Just wondering though, they only consider filipino applicants and have interviewed 1000s+ candidates, so thats a massive industry for a small country. Didnt know it was competitive over there.

Yep, that's what I've seen and heard ( maybe the 1300 was a little bit over but that's just my estimate but it's close):). By the way, they are still looking for some more pilots. I've heard something from the grapevine and they are not only looking at Q300s (Dash 8s). There is something big coming through the horizon for them and I'm not talking about the 734s from PAL. I can't say it here as it was said to me in confidence however, something that would put them in the map of the airline industry in the Phils. Goodluck to them.:ok:

The quality of the interview was quite good ( that's why they weeded out the unsuitable ones);)

Hi there Flyboylipad, yes because our population is huge unlike Australia.

We have the GA charter guys, and the likes of LBC, Aboitiz, Sea Air and others like flying schools. These are the companies where the applicants were coming from not to mention Filipinos from overseas.

That's the reason why there is a shortage in GA when the airlines start hiring.

There was also a guy who was a PAL Airbus trainee who failed his type rating and went back to Aboitiz to fly the YS-11 and applied to Air Phil. Sadly he was rejected. :(

Hmmmmmmmm - 1000 applicants and Air Philippines good? Not sure that makes any sense. They are simply a tool of LT to fight (and lose) to the better rival across the street run by a good guy. Sorry but no way are there so many pilots - from where? The PAF dried up years ago and no matter what the have to start excepting expats - and by the way there are no regulations against hiring expats. Do yourselves a favor and go to work for Cebu Pac on the new ATR's - upgrade to A320 and the:bored::ok:n get to fly A380 or 777300ER................................................

Airlinefan, believe it or not, that's what I've seen. I'll leave it up to you. I'm not here to convince you. Personally, I still would prefer PAL or Cebu Pac.

ok let's see here.. Pal has 380 pilots, CebuPac has 180, Asian Spirit plus Seair has about 100 so that makes a total of 660 pilots. Genav has at least 50 so total is 710...Maybe all of them applied to AirPhil?

The A320s PAL aircraft manned by PAL crews transferred to AirPhil. So... no hiring.
