The Petroleum Inspectorate Commission, formerly, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has rejected an incoming cargo of Aviation Turbine Kerosine (ATK), also known as aviation fuel brought into the country by a vessel, “MT Chelsea”.The aviation fuel, according to a statement yesterday by the department did not meet the nation’s certified product standard as contaminated particles were said to have been discovered in the product during a sample test.
Besides, in the course of the analysis, other extraneous substances were also said to have been found in the product, indicating that the conveying vessel tank was not in good condition.
“It is worthy to mention that the DPR will continue to beam its searchlight on all products coming into the country to ensure that they meet required international and local standards for the benefit of the consuming public” the statement read.
