Anybody out there who are or used to be cruise or refief Captains?
What is it like really? Love it, hate it?
What's the money like (basic, per diem)?
Roster?
Any north american bases?
Are they upgrading within a reasonable time frame?
EvaAir advertising at the moment, I e-mailed them my resume some 3 weeks ago, but no reply so far. Does anyone know better?
Thanks.

Eva have had the "cruise captain" program for years.
Meh thinks it is based on the fact that their
law says they can not hire ex-pat F/Os, as the locals should get the F/O jobs.
To get around the law, they call it "cruise captains".

I had a similar job in the Middle East. Got paid 80% of captains pay instead of the usual
70% and would sit in the left seat during cruise while a junior F/O was in the right seat and the skipper back in first class eating dinner and drinking tea.
For take off and landing I was in the right seat and the junior F/O in the observers seat.

"PIC Under Supervision" is quite useless in my log book.

Perhaps it is a different program these days with 2 complete crews on the 777 and MD11s?

Good luck.
