I refer to an on-board weight & balance system produced by Fairchild. Is it an acronym and if so what does it stand for? I seem to recall that it was fitted to BA 707 freighters.

STAN referred to SUM TOTAL AND NOSE, was installed on most (if not all)PanAmerican B707-320C aircraft, and was accurate (if operating properly) to within +/- 1.5% TOGW.

Generally quite reliable, in my experience, provided the MLG struts were serviced properly.

Thanks 411A
Presumably the % MAC was read from the NLG strut. My interest stems from having the indicator black box on my desk as an example of technology that failed to replace me. Later technology caught up with me though.

Fitted to Merchantman as well.
