Just Would Like To Know Where Does F Atpl Holders (200 - 250 Hours) End Up With A Job. I Am Aware That Minimum For Rex And Q Link Are 800 And 700 Hours Respectively. Does This Mean That F Atpl Holders Can Only End Up With An Instructing Job? Will It Be Possible For F Atpl Holders Ending Up With Rex Or Q Link If They Self Fund For A Saab 340 Or Dash 8 Type Rating? I have been trying to contact ALTEON and Ansett by email to inquire about their type rating courses but no replies. I would appreciate if anyone can provide me with an email address for these two places for me to correspond with.Thank You.

What the hell is an F ATPL holder??

And how the hell can you hold an ATPL with only 250hrs,.

Go bush. You'll gain some hours pretty quickly and then have a better chance of getting into a Regional Airline.

I'm sure there's probably plenty of other threads you could have a look at too if you used the search function.

What the hell is an F ATPL holder??

That would be a Frozen ATPL.

My understanding of it (don't take this as gospel) is that the holder has subject credits and I think an ATPL flight-test pass, but does not meet the minimum hours required of an ATPL licence -hence the Frozen, until the hours required are met in full.

Its a British thing. It means you have a CPL and Instrument Rating, as well as all the ATPL theory subjects passed.

When you get the required hours, it 'unfreezes' and becomes a real ATPL.

In Englandland, they can do the ATPL theory exams instead of the CPL theory exams.

Often written on resumes etc as fATPL despite it not actually being a recognised qualification, just shorthand..

Hope you're not a wind-up, anyway, here are the Qantas Min requirements;

http://www.qantas.com.au/info/about/employment/pilotsDirectCriteria

The only way to know is to submit an application if you meet the minimium requirements.

And do take note about having to have passed HSC English.

Original question ,
Chances of getting into Qantas with 550 tt with 300 on type , on a US issued rating , and a foreigner and prob not with English as my first language . !!!?

From what I can gather of Aussie aviation , you pretty well have to have airline pilot hours to secure an airline pilot job , (funny that ) an they are pretty wary of chappies from somewhere else , as youd expect I spose...
And although things are changing fast , the old schoolers still look for the mandatory gazillion hours bush flying , Paid ya dues...
Good luck

I d find out more about securing the 300 hours before going down that road $$$ , had experience with those companies . The guy at //// sounded dodgy as and said they had a few options to fly the time , one was into Lebannon and when I asked do you have anything NOT in a war zone hehe , !! no answer Also I liked the way he asked in his broken accent how much I have to spend when I asked the cost ,haha:DExellent !
Still that was last years info guy so Im sure its someone new now .

I see your in Wellington, Im in AA :}. My view on this aviation game is its about the credentials you have. With 'low hours' and I'm assuming you dont hold an IR or multi it may be a struggle to get in anywhere. Only thing I can be certain of is if you stumble across someone e.g.charter or just a scenic flight service who is hiring anyone, they dont tend to have major requirements. Normally "xx hours and a x aircraft type rating maybe advantage" Thats what ive heard left right and center so hmm....
