I know that there are folk on this forum who can give me accurate onfo on this one. Just want to find out what is the minimum age to commence PPL training in Australia. Obviously one has to be 16 to hold the PPL, but I imagine that there is also a min age to commence training for same? Thanks

No, we have students who have started training as young as 12.

There's no minimum specified to start flight training. The minimum to hold a Student Pilot's Licence is 16 (CAR 5.65), and for PPL it's 17 ( CAR 5.77(1)(a) )

An SPL is not required to start flight training, but since it's one of the requirements to go first solo, if they start much earlier than 15-and-a-bit they're setting up for a frustrating and potentially expensive time when they're ready for the big day but can't go.

No minimum age but you have to be at least 16 to go for your first solo.
