A JS 41 departing FAJS apparently suffered a engine fire on take-off, the aircraft left the runway during the subsequent rto.

Does anybody know more?

I know they had one take a bird(s) in the no.1 engine on takeoff out of DUR on Monday 23 July. Subsequent engine shutdown and return without further incident.

Not nearly that spectacular.

I don't have all the details but I understand that they had erratic engine temps and did a low speed rto (around 70kts). After vacating the runway the fire engine in attendance noted smoke from the affected engine. Apparently they did not have a fire warning at any stage. I'm not sure what the cause of the smoke was and whether there was in fact a fire in the affected engine.

Certainly no uncontrolled leaving of the runway.

Apparently on Friday, at about 17:00 the J41 had a severe mechanical failure on take-off. The crew aborted the take-off and vacated the runway. In minutes the fire brigade was on the scene and notified the crew that there was flames coming out the right-hand engine. The aircraft was vacated and the fire put out.:ok:

On 27 July the Airlink flight from Bloemfontein to George was delayed overnight, only done the saturday morning. Full load of pax. Anyone know why that was?

Yes, the BFN-GRJ route is only 1 weekly though, flying down on a Friday evening and back on Sunday afternoon. The J-41 is parked at GRJ then for most of the weekend, just doing a GRJ-CPT-GRJ Saturday mid-day.
I believe the flight last night was again delayed more than 3 hours...

:eek:Those old rattle cages are long overdue for retirement, they have had dual engine failure and were lucky to survive it about 2 years ago in Leshoto. And by the souds of it its getting worse. Ask the passengers, they fly to destination and virtually all cargo always comes by road.:{ I'm surprised anybody still flies with this overprised airline!!!;)

Moonshine, you are really becoming very irrational. Your other comments on airlink prove that you are a very unstable person. I hope I never have to fly with you.
I have a few thousand hours on the J41 (like most of the captains on the fleet) and have never shut down an engine, have had the need to shut down an engine (but chickened out) or had a flame out.

The event you referred to was a single engine flame out en-route to JHB from UTT due to late selection of the engine anti-ice. The crew then elected to divert to Maseru (the captain has the right to elect this). I ferried the aircraft back the next day.

I take exception against your slanderous text on pprune. If you got the short stick at link, maybe you should blame yourself or your actions and not the company. You are also insulting the professionalism of the very competent link team and my collages. (And passably yourself)

And by the souds of it its getting worse. So are your posts! Maybe as a result of imbibing too much of your namesake happy juice? Not good for the synapses, one understands.

Be a nice fellow and either lighten up, or if you simply cannot, then just go away and be ugly somewhere else. Eish!

:) Snottie dream on my son, you were obviously ignorant of the past history. The incident Im refering to is the one where JduP and co abborted the t/o for a chip detector warning and the good one then stopped. The A/C stayed there for 3 day before returning.

When it comes to proffesionalism, maybe you should start by convinsing the J41 CAPT'S that V1 -10 should not be the std taxy speed hey. Or should I mention our previos chief pilot proffesional acts on the E135. Get real for a change. We can cover those incidents if your memory needs refreshing:ugh:
