have fun but you might have to change your pprune icon quote to accomodate the type rating fee!

Have you used the search facility on this site? Lots of good info there!

Yes you can. Put in the words you want to find and search. Probably won't get many answers on something as specific as an airline and a month but the search is possible.

To get away from the general run of this thread, best of luck to Jinkster. I'm sure you will enjoy GSM. Hope to see you there someday :ok:

Congrats Jinkster,

Don't let some of the great unwashed take the edge of you securing your first jet job.

I'd be all over it Globespan if I got it but they only take 75 drivers with hours or TR those on the 73 fleet, bit of a bummer.

Best of luck

they do employ folks without TR - you have to pay 15k over 3 years and take a hit on the salary - not the same as that posted on ppjn (those rates are for existing and TR pilots).
If you have a good amount of turbo time and want the lifestyle of LOCO ops then GSM maybe the airline for you.
Dual basing also required eg: GLA/EDI or NEW/MME
Just thought "Tight" as in "TightyorksherMan" was an amusing, perhaps even ironic, subtitle for an even more northern LOCO company joiner!

From what I have heard the crews are a hard working and generally happy bunch with some interesting routes. So, as I said before Enjoy!

Jinkster, why leaving Ryanair so soon? And what are you getting in GSM thats so much better than FR? Just curious.

At FlyGlobespan:

1) Full time Contract

2) Fixed Base - and hotel provided if moved about and duty pay

3) Pension

4) Pay in Pound Sterling

5) Oppurtunity for Long Haul

6) Medicals/ Licences Paid for

7) LPC/ OPC Renewals free and that do not come out of salary

8) Car Parking

- All of the above not included at FR.

Only disadvantage of leaving FR - roster stability (not the top of my priority list!!)

Jinkster, I recall you once raved about the magic wonderland that is ryanair. Once you joined it, the dream went sour, as it always does. However, you were big enough to admit you had been wrong, so kudos there. Perhaps you might head on over to the wannabes thread and point out to the "ryanair is great" wannabe brigade that it's not so great after all?
Good luck in sunny scotland!

Hi Jinkster,

Congratulations!

You forgot to mention the chance to fly the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in 2010 or have they cancelled the order.

Cheers!

Out of the frying pan and into the fire, springs to mind here!
J you have obviously not read any of the many many posts on here saying how bad this airline is. You are not joining a professional outfit. Do not think it will be better than Ryanair. I think that you will find out that for yourself, when you are staying in a cheap 2 star hotel, absolutely tired and knackered and then you have to be up early and then they ring to position you to yet another location. They do not even provide breakfast or an evening meal in the hotel.
787s get real. These have been promised to so many highly experienced pilots well well before you to keep them at this airline. Promises which maybe forgotten! You will be lucky to get on a 757 or 767 in the future because of all those ahead of you and even if you did pull your wallet out cos GSM aint paying!
As for the future, well its being going in one direction for a long long time and its takes something drastic to stop the flow. You have come a long way from all your IR attempts so good luck but dont brag just yet!

Thanks Crosswind Limits, please send me a message with your telephone number for a catch up!!

Frying pan into Fire - have you worked at FR before?? 2 star hotels :uhoh: well.....we dont get any with FR and if they send me out of base to work - I have to pay for accomodation - and airport acccomodation and taxis are not cheap for the 4am starts!!

I wonder by the time you serve out your notice at FR will there still be a job for you at Globespan. You also seem very confused as at work you said you were thrilled with a new BRS base from Ryanair.

If you were going to BA or VS etc... I could understand but Globespan!!!

Hills are green ....... Good luck with the move.
