Anybody know what charges were brought against Abrahams on Oct 2nd ? And what is happening now?

on another thread..

I was informed by CAA today, after a call about renewal, that 'they aren't taking calls any more'...!!!! yesterday a friend of mine was calling about a rating, was told that the woman working with the ratings 'knows absolutely nothing about aircraft'...

I ask you...with tears in my eyes

Don't know about taking calls, I've been chatting to the head of Aircrew Licencing a few times in the last 2 weeks, as well as another licencing lady, and have been amazed with the pleasant way in which I was dealt with.
My impression is of a department that has begun to realise that the customer is the reason for their existence, not just an irritation.
I had also heard today that they were not taking calls, but got through first time today (via the switchboard nogal!!), and a solution to my problem was given by the person answering the call, without any drama.
What on earth is the department coming to?? Next thing there'll be an honest politician in Parliament!!!

P.S. Parks must have died of "poverty", poor man!! :)

"What on earth is the department coming to??"

The way of 'independent' African nations I'm afraid. It only took about 5 years after Independence for the Dept of Civil Aviation in the country across the Limpopo River to your north to descend into uslessness.

Where in Africa is it any different?

It shouldnt take long for one in South Africa to take a suitcase full of Rand to the CAA and obtain an ATP. All completely signed by the head of the Aviation Dept. I mean after reading the above with people iin the Chain of command who no nothing other than how to jack a car, it should not be a problem.
Sad to see as SA is probably one of the nicest places left on Earth.
