Conditions are just getting worse by the minute I hear at QR:
Its no suprise to hear that the ever hard working Cabin Crew and Flight Crew have to take their days off down route! (yes, they are getting paid for this but its totally disgusting that due to staff shortages that they have to take days off down route)
The male accommodation (Al Kabbi, if that's how you spell it): The male Cabin Crew have been shipped out and sent to downgraded accommodation near some motorway flyover - The Crew are not happy about this I hear.
Cabin Crew and Flight Crew are all exhausted (thats no suprise).
A long term CSD who resigned recently got no praise or thanks pre-departure (by the ever so kind Cabin Crew "Manager"). This particular CSD was simply told by SK that "We are looking to get rid of certain CSD's anyway"........charming!
A high volume of crew are leaving to join Etihad.
Apparently the numbers of Cabin Crew are at an all time low.
Comments please.............

Please do not start another attack on QR,

I have friends flying in the A340 fleet, getting 8 consecutive days-off, 75 flying hours, and their roster on time every month.

So don't tell me its all bad in QR

NA...Well my question is....why? Why only the 340 pilots (340 is the smallest fleet in Qatar airways) can have 8 days off in a raw every month! What about the other ones...? Is this fair....???:uhoh:
Maybe your friend who is so happy in Q.A has an answer to this question!

Strength, ...................Simple Rule in Qatar Airways, Take it or Leave it.

I am bit confused  what are you not happy about. Are you not happy about getting paid for Days OFF or Not happy for some Male Cabin Crew Accommodation etc..

I am just trying to figure out whether you are a FD or CC. SO far people are generally happy now if not atleast they have stop whining.

Salary is better :), Lot of upgrades and days off are reasonable too. Even if they give it down the route you get paid. SO what do you want.

So please take a chill pill and relax, Stop whining := and enjoy

NA.....don’t stare yourself blind on that friend of yours on the A340!

Those are actually the only guys getting that due to the fact of the fleet size, which are only 4 airplanes!

All the rest of us are flying our asses of!

96 hours plus on 330 is an average, as is 160 hours duty on the A320 fleet!

Everybody is reaching his limit; the sick rate has never been so high due to the accumulated fatigue!

But all of you remember!

7 Days OFF in DOHA is the absolute minimum limit, according to the QCAA!
They can give you days off in outstation when they require that for rostering purposes, but you still require a minimum of 7 days at home base!

Just check OM Part a chapter 7
Which is something more of you should do, read that bloody chapter and don’t believe rostering every time they say something is legal (or illegal in case you are the one requesting something)

In case we all would know that chapter a bit better, life would be much easier for all of us.

In order for conditions to improve a company needs the right people at the right positions.
Traditionally relatively new start ups such as Qatar in their infancy find it difficult to recruit and end up with pilots that could not get jobs anywhere else.
A few years down the track these people find themselves in key managerial positions totally clueless and out of their depth. As time goes by they are weeded out and replaced by more competent ones and only then do things begin to improve.

For those of us considering DEC positions, can we have some info on the background of some of the fleet managers etc and whether the above statement is applicable to QATAR in any way.

Thanks

A300 300:

For your info I left QR a long time ago (thank God) to join an airline that looks after its staff and Im pleased to say that Im very happy. Best move I have ever made

If I want to be ""whining"" I will do so as I know for a fact that many staff are unhappy and I am mentioning this on their behalf.

Don't tell me to take a chill pill dear as I dont need to. I'd love to see some postings of the QR crew who are supposed to be ""Happy"" - that in itself is a rarety on here. I have just met the QR crew at LHR recently and I can tell you there were not happy at all.

I hope that halts your so called confusion

While I will agree there are good things about Qatar Airways, there are also a lot of bad things. I don't think it is very constructive to accuse people of whining and telling them to take a chill pill. Employees past or present may have valid grievances that need to be aired.

As for the take it or leave it attitude that, I am afraid, is one of the greatest downfalls of any Management. This basically tells the employee that they don't care a hoot about him/her. The obvious Human reaction to that is not to give a hoot about the Company and the so called Management.

We face a huge problem with lack of crew both at the sharp end and in the rear. Qatar Airways has a bad name for ill treating its crew. This should be recognised by the hierarchy and acted upon, not ignored Ostrich style.

Well said Cliqclaq. You are absolutely right in your views. QR needs to act fact as its competitors are marching ahead. If you keep employees happy, they would keep the customers happy who are the key to airline's business.

I too have heard that the CC of QR are suffering from a very low morale, although there is no way you can tell as they are so hard working and always at your beck and call with a smile on their face. I fly QR from Khi to Lhr via Doh at least 3 times a year in F and C class and have been a loyal customer for 5 years now with no going back. I did have a chat with a very friendly and pleasant (Indian) flight attendant on one of my flights to Lhr last year and when I told him that I had heard that the CC are having it tough, he said he'd rather not comment on that but it is a hell of alot of hard work. I hope he didn't think I was one of the CEO's 'spies' trying to extract info out of him. Either way, he was a very nice individual whom I'd love to meet again but so far have not.

Hi guys !

My friend went for interview with Qatar Airways for a ground management position in Doha...
Well..Package is a little bit poor I mean if you want to attract good quality staff from UK...
About 2000GBP a month and a 2 bedroom appartment ! (a little bit shoe box for a family of 4 !)
Compared to Emirates who offer 1000 more, plus a 3 double bedrooms villa !!
I understand now why no one's interested in Doha at the moment !

Shame cause Doha is beautiful apparently and service on board Qatar Airways is excellent I'm told.
Management is very greedy though and need to offer more competitive salaries ...

Qatar Airways looks good as a punter paying for a ticket and expecting service and value for cash spent. Nice cabin service, good in flight stuff (films getting rather boring and could do with an update, QA person monitoring thread take note) once you have explained your wants, drinks supply if wanted away from the script is no problem once it is explained and name of attendant taken and is usually very good. (Know that any complaint is usually responded to by the identified person being sacked) but doo understand the limitations that they are under.
Nice shiny aircraft and new technology, rather worrying as they get older and less reliable, maintenance well, unable to comment but the WWW has some interesting historical data re-second third world maintenance practices for airlines once the new stuff starts to age. I will say that data on the engineering side of QA is rather lacking in the threads available. Information that is available indicates that the engineers are qualified and conform to the required legal requirements. However as a person who has an option in his choice of flights one may decide that alternative suppliers are the best option if undecided re available reliable information.
