Bell 206 - improved particle separator

Hey Bell 206/407 operators,

I just wanted to get your thoughts on the subject of possibly introducing a latest generation engine inlet particle separator ( aka "sand filter") which will not use the engine bleed air, but rather electrically driven scavenge fans. Also, this new unit will be very efficient in removing sand & dust - far beyond the capability of the current 206 design, from the 1970's.

We use the FDC Barrier filter on our 206's. http://www.fdcaerofilter.com
There is no electrical purge just a Bypass door if the filter becomes clogged.
If you fly in harsh conditions it may pay to clean your filters every 50 hours or even 25 hours in extreme conditions.
The kit is easily fitted in around one day and you should get a TOT decrease of about 20-30 degrees.
We fitted an new compressor a while back and there is no erosion evident during case half inspections, even after around 1200hrs ops with regular beach landings.
Great investment I think, much better option than the original particle seps.

would you prefer a particle separator that meets or exceeds the performance of the current barrier filters, yet does not require periodic maintenance & cleaning? this way you can operate continuously with little or no risk (doesn't load up), including in snow & ice conditions. The current 206/407 separator is a dated design, rooted from the '70's. The latest generation separators, which are extremely efficient, can be seen in Eurocopter & Agusta platforms.
