Hello,

I'm a recent college grad with a multi-instrument FAA commercial rating looking to comeback and fly in nigeria. The only problem is i don't know how to get my resume to the hiring authorities in nigeria's airline industry. If anyone can help bring me back home to contribute to the continued expansion of the african aviation industry, i'd forever owe that person a debt of gratitude. thanks

I'm gonna be in the same boat by Nov 07, i've got friends already on the same boat. What've they done? Actually and physically GONE back home to Lagos - the bubbling hub of Nigerian Aviation!

Bottom line my guy is to get on a boat or if you like a plane and make your way to Lagos because i would be shocked if you get that much help from someone helping you from Lagos or wherever except it is someone you can trust, know very well and also has the links you need in that country.

Plus you seem to ignore the fact that your FAA CPL/MULTI/IR needs to be converted to an NCAA licence (which takes about 2/3 months at present according to my friend waiting to finalise his); not to mention the Nigerian AirLaw exam you need to sit in Lagos.

Book your ticket and go home to get that dream job, hopefully get to meet you one day! PM if you wish! Best wishes!

With your experience you have to come down to DNMM and do what we call "tarmaking" loose a few poundsshuttling between Ncaa HQ,licensing
and airline offices hopefully after a while and lots of patience you get a job things are very slow here and if you rush you get frustrated.No one can help you man you have to get your hands dirty.:}

NIJA NINJA:2 to 3 months license conversion is a little bit ambitious, unless you are lucky or have a JAA or UK CAA in which case you write law but for FAA its 6months min cos you write all three.

Bottom line guys the main thing is the nigerian lincense forget about the jobs and give the convex your best shot.No company will employ you unless you have the nigerian cpl.:ugh:

dynamicd,

I agree with your assessment of the ncaa conversion timeframe. My friend that i was talking about is indeed a JAA licence/ratings holder hence the shorter period. I am working on the JAA route as well and those 14 exams are a KILLER!

FAA is easy stuff! Not starting a war here, you Yankee lads!

Uhm hmmm... hello lads, felt we had covered all this earlier.

No big deal now!!! So cool it:).

FAA or JAR, dont matter believe me, will find out when we put ya on the right sit. kapish :\

We need y'all to come on down and get tapping so some of us rhinos can get to spend a little bit more time at the bar.

Hi NaijaNinja, by the way UNDERDOWN & PAMAR Airlaw, would go a long way with regards to Airlaw here. :ok:
Trust me.

Regards,
Zaz

There's more than enough spaces for all you guys to return home, thats not to say the airlines will be chasing you though, naija will always be naija, but there are jobs for low timers. Come back, convert your licences and starting making contacts at the airlines. Glad to know there are a lot of you training at flightSafety florida, very high standards. It trully makes me happy to see young Nigerians actively pursuing this career and also speaking on PPrune. Finally PPrune African forum will have a good balance to things. Good luck with all your training and hope to fly with you guys soon.

naijacitizen, try this school in Naples Florida, www.naples-air-center.com (http://www.naples-air-center.com)
They claim to be conversion specialist of FAA to JAA.

Meanwhile no one has answered my question regarding the exams we need to write to convert the FAA to NCAA.:suspect:

Sorry Baba, don't mind those rude guys!

Considering your talking about FAA licences, i think you need to sit about 3/4 exams: Air Law (only exam for JAA holders), Perf A, Mass & Balance. I am not sure if there's a fourth one as i am more of a JAA guy. I hope that helps!

Concerning, Naples Air Centre, I WOULD ADVICE TO STAY AWAY IF YOU LIKE YOURSELF AND ESPECIALLY IF YOU DON'T LIKE CATS AS THEY HAVE TOO MANY OF THEM ROAMING THE WHOLE FLIGHT SCHOOL OFFICES/ROOMS! :ugh:

Also, if you want people who would show you respect beyond your first day at an FTO, then you are looking at the wrong place. Because Richard and Wife Nicole won't show it beyond first day, His mother in law Beatrice, you don't wanna mess with! I would warn a fellow brother against this school, even my worst enemy! This school was so messed up their UK Chief Pilot left because he had enough.

THAT'S FROM 1ST HAND EXPERIENCE, IF ANYONE MUST KNOW!

Hi Guys and Girls,
for a conversion of your FAA or JAA licence I would suggest you have some ground school for the airlaw exams. Anyone who has done them would surely agree. A good outfit to check out is SKYNOTE they specialise in the NCAA airlaw prep.
They are located on Emmanuel street, Maryland. Lagos.

My 2 bits worth:ok:

p.s Mod..I am not connected to them just helping out the peeps.
I apologise if I am bending the ADVERTORIL exclusion.:uhoh:

good looking out buddy.

But the question still begs, how long to convert this FAA to the "Golden" Ncaa??? 2 months or 6months???

Ok a little perspective is needed here. You show up in Nigeria with a licence JAA or FAA. Give it at least a month(at best) to have the NCAA verify that licence. The famous fax machine does tend to breakdown every now and again. After this you book the air law exam, you get posted around for a bit, maybe 3 to 4 days trying to figure out who to pay, where to pay, when the exam will be etc etc. You get your date, most likely the next week. You then show up and write your exam. Now when I did mine, it took a good 9 days for the result to come out. If you pass, you then continue the process of actually having the licence being issued, give this process a good 2 - 3 weeks. Finally you end up with your blue licence.

Now if you have the FAA, you have to factor that exam process three times, because you have Performance A aswell as Loading to write. I would really think 2 months is a little bit optimistic to convert. Speaking from the experience of three friends, I would say 3.5 months at best to convert your FAA to NCAA if you pass all your exams first time of course, watch out for the old style perf A, it will **** you up, so see make sure the ultimate groundschool man MR D. Besides all that wahala, I'm sure u all will be fine.

Baba 70,6 months is the min you can work with as per time for convex.

Shunany, skynote in Maryland:confused::confused: sounds like a scam to me, been around guys doing the convex and gone through it myself, if it was a good and legitimate outfit we would have heard about it guys beware!!!

There are three possible ways to prep yourself for the convex.Go to the nigerian college of aviation technology in Zaria Kaduna state OR just come down to lagos where you will meet lots of guys around ncaa and the airport going through the process believe me they will help you for free. OR just PM me when you get in and will give you contact details of the guy who reputable companies e.g Aero pay to teach expats airlaw, but he will charge you a fee.all three options are ok but the first and third are sure ways of getting you through but for a price.

BABA 70,the papers you have to write are airlaw, loading(weight and balance)and Performance 'A' based on the lockheed tristar.loading and airlaw are not too demanding, the real headache is PERF 'A' you need about 2 weeks to learn it then about 2weeks of practice before its advisable to attempt it.

Hope this helps:ok:

Dynamicd,
You are the man.. thanks for that bit of infomation, i have been trying to get the names of the exams for forever. i will definitely give you a call on my way to "town" to hook me up with the trainer so i can knock this out ASAP. Thanks again and also thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread who has made me and several of us US based guys a wee bit smarter on the conversion system. Right, one thing i don't do is act like a headless chicken. Everything i do is thought off largely to avoid people who just wait to hit back at you which is exactly what you've done! Here's what you got wrong:

Baba wrote this earlier in his post: "Meanwhile no one has answered my question regarding the exams we need to write to convert the FAA to NCAA" on August 1, if you can be bothered to scroll down!

Realising that Baba seemed pissed off that no one was responding to his question, i apologised on behalf of the guys (I didn't say Zazoo was rude); with a bit of humour which you either don't have a sense of OR were too slow to pick up. Ever listened to the Fela (originial Baba70) & Lagbaja song about eating Yam? If you have, this joke would have been clear to you!

Plus i have nothing against Zazoo, the guy is a legend on pprune, just check out this post of his on 12th July 2007, 23:30 - a classic POEM! I hope to meet the guy one day hopefully in naija, chill out with him and hear some funny crew stories!

So Touareg, have you jumped the gun snapping at me? Who knows if you will be man enough to admit it?

Dynamicid, I do not subscribe to scams.
Skynote is a very legit outfit run by a very competent team headed by Capt S. Ebosie and Femi Oyediran.
if you have never heard of them:(...not ma fault.
As I said before I am not connected with them...check out their website and pls no more jumping to conclusions.

Shunanny,
You are absolutely right. Skynote run many courses for aviation companies here and have NCAA approval for such things as Aviation Security and Dangerous Goods courses. I have always found Femi to give good presentations.
