Guys and Gals.
Maybe one of you can help me out.I believe as an Irish resident,I'm entitled to some tax back from my type rating course.I was in Amsterdam and those of you who have been through the mill will know what I'm on about. As this is not my area of expertise,I'd appreciate it if any of you could give me a quick break down on the process and what would be the first step.I have no idea where to start. In saying that,I'm aware a solicitor is an option, but obviously that's more dough and hence undesirable. If anybody has suggestions,it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a bunch!

Start by calling the Revenue Commissioners - the number is in the telephone book.
You may or may not be entitled to the break mind - as it's strictly for 'approved' courses only - i.e. courses that Revenue have pre-approved.

Copied from www.revenue.ie :

8. Is there any tax relief available for the payment of College / Training Course Fees?

See Leaflet IT31 (Tax Relief for Tuition Fees) in PDF format (57KB) for further details and conditions.

The IT31 leaflet is downloadable from www.revenue.ie too :)

Don't know Irish tax law, but obtaining the detailed invoice with VAT figures etc would probably be extremely helpful to your cause: bear in mind that cross-border with the NL may require a specialist.
