Subject is fairly good at explaining it..

I have recorded a load of music tv shows onto DVD's from various music TV channels and want to take the audio down into MP3 format for listening in the car etc ....

Will not windows media player rip them to mp3?

Google 'rip dvd audio' or something similar. There are plenty - I've used ImToo DVDAudioRipper and it works well. Ripped a live concert dvd into separate tracks.
