Here is my initial selection from Sundays action. Highlight of the show for me was the sight and sound of the Nimrod and Hind finally flying together.

I still have some 600 shots to look through, so more to follow later.

The shots were taken with a Nikon D200, with a Nikon 300mm 2.8 and 18-200mm lens.

Very nice, I'm using a D200 and 300 f4, but I really struggle for your level of sharpness at shutter speeds low enough to give good prop blur. I've got a 70-200 vr but it's a little short to be useful, looks like a 1.4 converter might be the answer. How do you like the 300 2.8? I've been thinking about dropping the big bucks on an upgrade, but can't decide between the 300 2.8 or the 200-400 f4. Long live VR! what AF mode were you using for those shots?

I have a D200 also, and the 18-200 VR zoom is amazing. This may not be the best photo in the world, but it should not have come out at all. From seeing it to taking the shot was but a few seconds, it was raining and there was not much daylight. The speed was slow 1/30 I think it was (I will check) as can be seen by the prop 'disc'. I panned the picture and as I say the camera had barely time to spool up before `click`

I was at 2500 agl and I reckon the Tucano was 350ish based upon the electricity pylon it was crossing at the time.

Buggaluggs,
I had a 200-400 on loan for a weekend a little while ago and found it to be far too heavy to hand hold, it was also struggling at times to focus in low contrast situations.
The 300 f 2.8 is a great lens, it snaps in to focus really quick and is fine for hand holding. I have tried my Sigma 1.4 converter with the lens which I found slowed the focus quite considerably. So I'm now looking out or a Nikon converter.
All of the shots posted here were taken using shutter priority, most taken at 1-250th although the Mustangs were taken at 1-320 th. For ground to air I turn the VR off.
