I'm flying with Astreus from LGW in a couple of weeks to go find some sun. I usually carry my ipod and all those essentials I need in case my luggage goes missing etc in a small rucksack with me. Are rucksacks allowed in the cabin as hand luggage now, or are security still being strict with hand baggage dimensions? I had no problems with it when I flew from JFK with VS last year, but wondered if things were still super strict in the UK?

Thanks

Security are very strict. There is a bag sizer that they will stick your bag in if they think its too big. If it is, back to check-in you go.

I now use one of these for hand luggage
http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Backpacks/notebook_camera/CompuDaypack.aspx

Fits my laptop (17in widescreen) plus my DSLR camera and all the papers and connectors I need and the iPod.

Flown many times with it, fits all security requirements
