Looks too much like a Boeing 717 to me?

Apparently, it uses jigs from the MD80 which was licence built in China for a while, so no co-incidences there!

just cuz it looks like a douglas doesn't mean it will fly well.

I heard that the md80's built in china as the "trunkliner" were not up to real douglas standards.

but good luck

The Wiki article cites the CF34-10A engine with a static thrust of 9275 lbf. That thrust is correct for the original military TF34, but the latest CF34 has nothing in common with the 1970-ish TF34 design, and the CF34-10 thrust is now nearly up in the CFM56 range - probably 16-17K.

Cant understand why considering it has been built using plans from the MD-90 !!!!

So does the reference within the People's Daily Online to this being "China's first wholly-made airplane" mean that the Chinese now finally admit that the Shanghai Y-10 was simply a lousy Boeing 707 copy and not their first homebuilt, home designed airplane?

And what about the Harbin Y-11 / Y-12...?

Just like the One-Elevens built in Romania then. It seems sending the drawings across is not enough.
