The aviation safety network website reports that Bulgaria has cancelled the AOC for Vega Airlines. Bit surprised as they seemed a decent outfit and noticed them a few times in Canada.

I believe the Bulgarian CAA has cancelled the AOCs for all Bulgarain Operators flying LZ- registered Antonov 12s due to EASA safety reasons.

It has all come about since Bulgaria joined the EU at the start of 2007.

Heard rumour that Vega Airlines have teamed up with Jetline in UAE in order to remain flying, albeit no longer in the EU.:ok:

They are a decent bunch!

Air Sofia did that before the final announcement by the Bulgarian CAA this week.

They either knew what was coming, or couldn't afford not to be flying until a decision was made.

Vega had re-regd one of their aircraft to an ER- reg, under the control of MJL (Jetline Moldova), but I'm not sure if this is still the case and what is happening to the rest of their fleet.

Bright Aviation's fleet has gone back to the Ukraine already.
