A few Q's on CX

Had the great news of a first round interview in a few months for DESO position. I have alot of info from many sources however I have a few "crystal ball" questions.

1) What routes are the B777 - 300ER expected to take up on delivery
2) Is Colombo still a no go destination for CX
3) How many days off can you expect betwen each trip and is it common to be put on a standby during that period.
4) Besides Discovery Bay what other areas in HK are common for expats to live in which provide good access to Schooling for the little one (and are affordable on a SO wage!!)

Answers are appreciated greatly.

Howdy,

1) Most likely the polar routes and other ultra long haul sectors.
2) No go ;)
3) DESO = about 3 trips per month, then you're out of hours. Generally you'll get between 1-3 days off in the destination port. 747 daily ops to most destinations so normally a 24 stop over. Airbus only flys several times a week on some routes so you'l get a few extra days. So 6 days flying/mth plus 3-6 days off enroute rest = "working" about 9-12 days a month! :ok: You'll get the occasional sim thrown in too. Generally 7 days off between trips.
4) Don't have kids so have no gouge on this one. There are plenty of spots with schools to choose though.

TruBlue351, Just wondering what your experience level is and if the minimums published are actually true for DESO or are they really looking for something higher?

Mate, I couldn't give you any details WRT getting a call for an interview vs their min requirements. All I can is now is as good a time as any WRT the company growth and so many aircraft puchases. Big issue is getting bodies to fill seats so get your app in if you haven't already :ok:

WRT new joiners experience..........there are so many variations it's not funny!! So I don't think there's one mould or preset magic number to hit, but just let 'em know you're super keen (I don't think you'd need higher than the mins). Personally I've been in the RAAF for the last decade and a bit.

If recruiting was way slow, then they become more selective, but that's not a super big issue at the moment.
