MK interview and JAR ATP?

I have a possible interview with MK airlines coming up. Anyone with any info regarding interview, training etc please PM me.

I also have full icao atpl and would obviously need to convert to JAR. Rumour has it that i can get exemption from ground school having my icao ATPL. Have any of you guys gone this route? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Yeh, if you have sufficient experience the relevant authorities can extend JAR 1.016(b) exempting you from theoretical training BUT NOT from the 14 subjects that need to be written.

UK has another scheme that allows you to obtain a license valid on UK registered aircraft only provided you have the following:

more than 3000 hours total time on aircraft of more than 30,000kg AUW
more than 1500 hours pilot in command on aircraft of more than 30,000kg AUW
type rated on an aircraft of more than 30,000kg AUW
more than 500 hours total time on the aircraft above
able to complete a flight test on the same aircraft

Just what is an ICAO ATPL; who issues them; and why are they regarded as Mickey Mouse licences? Serious question, honest!

ICAO license is a license issued an ICAO contracting state. It is not a "Mickey Mouse" License rather it is not a JAA ATPL or a CPL. Thus working or applying for an European operator ,preference is being given to those that have the correct license.

JAA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many many more countries issue a fairly standard ICAO licenses, however FAA has many differences from ICAO Annex 1 (Personnel Licensing) to be really considered one.

hey Zambezi, unless you fall into the category that JJ described, you will have to do the 14 exams. Correct you are exempt from ATPL groundschool, but you would be well advised to attend a short crammer course, as the syllabus and questions are very different from what you're used to (I guess SA ATP?). At the very least, buy 3-month access to the online question database from Bristol groundschool, their questions are very good and even guys from other groundschools in the UK sign up with them.
I have heard that MK will consider you before you have all the subjects, as they can get you started with a Ghanaian validation. You fly on that for 6-12 months during which you have to get your subjects and, once 500+ hours on type, a UK sim check.

Wish CAA would convert to JAR ASAP and make my day but no doubt thats still a long way off.
