Does anyone know the deffinition of "Vat"? It is in Handling the Big Jets and I cannot find a deffinition anwhere. It is also called Vat0 and Vat2.

Hi Mate,

It appears to be something to do with landing.
I have seen it on the Shorts 360 Landing Cx.
It says "Check Vapr is neither too high nor too low and prepare to reduce speed to Vat"

So I'm going to hazard a guess it stands for Velocity At Threshold.

Anybody else got any ideas?

See you in SFO! I can't get past page 2 of HTBJ....I keep waking up 2 hours later!

its described as "at threashold" speed in some of the literature and is the equivalent of V ref, though I don't know if its exactly 1.3Vso.

Ok, great guys I think that is getting somewhere. And grundog I totally sympathize, HTBJ's is a bit of a long haul. But it actually gets a bit interesting towards the end (although I have fallen asleep to it on more than one occation!) See you in SFO!
