Hello Luke,

I am the CGI at EPTA.

I suspect that most of the candidates for your course are not yet pprune readers.

At the moment we anticipate there being about 15 to 20 students on your course. But we will not have a final figure until mid August.

Our admin manager Jane is currently contacting those who have confirmed their places and those who have been given conditional offers. She will make a list of those who wish to make early contact with their fellow students. This list will then be sent out to you all.

In the meantime if you need any more information please contact me by PM or at EPTA.

hey luke, i was jus browsing and came across your post....are you referring to the kingston uni course? as i am trying to see if there are any places left on the course, as i did not put down a pilot based course for my initial ucas applications. If you are referring to the kingston uni course would you be able to give me a few details on the apllication process after you sent your ucas form off.

cheers

Im starting this course next September (2009) so i have a year to work and save some money first. I will be going into it with a PPL so cant see myself doing too much the first year anyway.

SpeedBird, i phoned Kingston University yesterday and they said that they are over subscribed for this year so i guess you will be starting next year with me then?

If you want to have a chat about it then pm me and i will give you my msn address. Would be good to get to know people first and possibly sort out accommodation well in advance to save ourselves some time/money.

Sparks.

hey all, all i can say is if you find people startin the course at the same time, defo try and meet and get to kno eachother first, sort out somewhere to stay til xmas etc. it will definately be helpful. i was lucky enough to meet someone on the course before startin last september but most people didnt and some of them wer living alone away from every1 else whereas we managed to get a short let on a flat and it was 3 months of laughs

Some useful information for anyone joining this course...

Look for your own accommodation online. The list Cabair holds has not been updated recently, so there can be some explaining to do when you call a number and find the house stopped being used for rented accommodation 2 years ago .

(Haven't seen you here for a while B.I.G Nick...)

Yeah, I'd agree with wat Isi 3000 sed! We did try and put them right on a few of the accomodation places on the list and some of them are still doing the accomodation stuff, but there are a lot that aren't doing it, so look online first!!

(I know, not seen you in ages either Isi 3000, we really shouldn't leave it this long... lol)

Hey all

All I can say is get thinking of questions for tomorrow. There will be many of the staff there along with a few of us current students who are just finishing the foundation degree at Cabair. It is the perfect chance to ask any questions you may have.

Also, on accomodation, I have a couple of contacts for agents who I have dealt through, both recommended!!

See you tomorrow, those that are coming.

I am trying to find student accomodation right now but not having any luck.. can anyone please advise?

Theres no direct student accomodation. Everything is done either by living with a family, house share or by getting a private let. I would wait until after the open day and check you still wish to go ahead with it. The first term isnt long enough to get into a long term contract on a house share as you only need it for 4 months so your options are really private short term rental on which i could recommend a company me and another guy of the course went with. Otherwise, Cabair have select contacts. Like has already been said, a lot of the contacts are out of date, but some of them I contacted when I started were still free.

Pm me for info

ahh ok i used to work at Currys fosse park! and also Next Directory in Enderby. Yes went to an open day on Sat learnt alot to be honest course seems very good indeed.

A question for you and anyone on this forum who is studying this course is that how have you planned to fund yourself for the CPL/IR within the three years of passing ATPL?

Thanks for your message today, the information was useful, however I always thought that you have 18 months to complete the cpl ir after passing the first atpl exam?

isi3000
30th Mar 2009, 18:29
The 18 months is to complete the ATPL exams and ground school, not the CPL/IR :)

lg89
30th Mar 2009, 19:07
Thats true what Isi says, it's 18 months from passing your 1st ground school exam to complete them all. It is 3 years from passing your last groundschool exam to passing your CPL/IR.

Glad to hear you had a good day on Sat, did you speak to any of us? we spoke to quite a few people but not sure who everyone is.

To be honest, I am 1 month away from finishing the groundschool exams, I finish the university side of the foundation degree on thursday this week, and I'm still not sure on how I will pay for the CPL/IR. Most likely, I will complete the 3rd year and then finish my training, the market isn't really up to much at the moment to be in a rush to complete.
