Couldn't help but notice, but you heavy guys seem to be earning your pay today at YMML. The "crabbing" motion of the B747 that flew over a few minutes ago was quite visible, and its gusting 39-40 knots with 52knots recorded at Pt Wilson and St Kilda.

Pffft. It's straight down the strip. :E The only minor drama is the 'suck' off the end of the threshold and anyone who has been to ML with more than a 10 knot northerly will know about that!

Easier to get in on 34 with the wind like that then when it's 040/15! :}

Bit of fun in clear conditions. I always seem to do better landings when it's windy- I think I did two or three good ones into Melbourne this morning- only went there once though- was hard to tell when I actually touched down! :)

Strong winds slow ground speed.
In recent times Melbourne controllers recorded 60 knots as the slowest jet groundspeed on final. The record held by Qantas.
Probably an impressive short field demo.:D
