Hi All

Have done a search but couldnt find anything specifically related but this has most likely been asked before.

Just wondering if one can take the ATPL exams before getting a PPL(A)?

There are certain reasons why it would be better for me to do this in mycircumstances, but it quite a long story

Any help/advice much appreciated

Thanks

No, you need a PPL before you can do your ATPL exams.

Only way to do ATPL exams before any flying is if you do a integrated course, however with that you don't do a PPL at all.

Many thanks.

Obviously not the answer I was hoping for but I just thought I'd ask to make sure

No harm in starting some private study in advance; however, if you get a set of second-hand study manuals, just bear in mind that you will have to stump up for a new full set when you enrol in your ground school and the second hand ones may be out of date slightly.

Also bear in mind that if you do this, you would be better off getting your PPL exams out of the way first as there are differences in the syllabus with different emphases on what's important!

Cheers
