Will be at Flight Safety for my 4 day recurrency course starting 4 June. Due to work commitments wasn't able to book hotels early and I have just been told by Flight Safety that the Wichita Airport Hilton is fully booked that week.

Any suggestions? Thanks

If you have a rental car, I highly recommend the Hotel at Old Town (http://www.hotelatoldtown.com/). There is a brew pub and several good restaurants nearby. My favorite is Old Chicago; good pizza and beer. Go for the "Hazed and Infused." Free Internet too.

Next choice is the Hyatt Regency Wichita (http://wichita.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp). Get the Spicy Cowboy steak at the bar. You won't regret it. Note the America's Cup sailboat across the street, and the boatload of irony to go with it. A nice walking/running path along the river is a nice touch.

Both of these hotels are a short 5 minute drive East on Kellogg (http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=1951+S+Airport+Rd,+Wichita,+KS+67209+%28Flightsaf ety+International%3A+Citation+Learning+Center%29+%4037.65926 5,-97.424714&daddr=830+East+First,+Wichita,+KS+67202&f=d&hl=en&dq=flightsafety&cid=37659265,-97424714,6068733757156609689&ie=UTF8&ll=37.673359,-97.376633&spn=0.066033,0.160675&z=13&om=1).

Having said that, DO NOT stay at the Four Points Sheraton. It's a dump. Oh, and if the above are not in your budget (although they are usually reasonable unless there is a convention there) you can also do good at the Candlewood Suites (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=hotel&sll=37.675873,-97.386332&sspn=0.033016,0.080338&ie=UTF8&ll=37.679405,-97.406502&spn=0.033014,0.080338&z=14&iwloc=C&om=1). It's nearby a shopping center and a nice way to "settle in" if you want to cook your own food.

Hello CW

would just check that the Bravo sim is working I am KICT right now and there is a big U/S sign hanging from the door - very unusual

Might be worthwhile and a bit more interesting to do the encore recurrent if they have sim issues, they will be looking to get that sim back onto the programme super fast - make sure its ok and ask the question

The Four Points Sheriton is handy and has a mini bus for the FSI School and sim running 24 hours, however as noted above has gone into decline, understand that it was sold off and now called something else, is handy for Wall Mart and the shops in the shopping mall.
A brisk 15 minute walk from FSI,
Best regards,

Try the Cresthill suites about 5 mins from FSI.

Just stayed at the Hyatt Regency Downtown. Not too bad and only 10 minutes drive from FSI. Rooms were average in size, beds were comfortable and breakfast was actually pretty good.

Homewood suites by Hilton is pretty good. On a shopping complex that has amongst other things an Apple store. :ok:

The salad bar is a reasonable place to eat. Always get a seat even when the other places are packed out.

This is an old thread (really old!) I know, but rather than create a new one for exactly the same question I thought I'd resurrect it and get some updates. I'll be at FlightSafety's East Learning Centre near the Beechcraft factory. The recommendation by redsnail looks good and I note the suggestions for hotels in town, but any others close to Beechcraft?

Not a Hotel recommendation-but if you’re looking for somewhere to eat, I always liked going to Chesters Chophouse for a decent steak.

We used to use the Airport Hilton but that started to go downhill so moved to the Hyatt. Reasonable central (ish) location and handy for river walks. Ask for a corner room. TV was rubbish unless you are well into Sports. I carry a USB with films on, and HDMI it to the room TV. The staff were great once they got over my strange need for tea and not coffee!! Will second Chesters. Bradley Fair is full of great place to eat.
