How many years is this job taking off my life?

I can't sleep properly anymore with the continuous day/night work cycle.

Might be time to get a 'real' job. Every pilot's nightmare (if one can sleep, that is).

The evidence suggests that sleep disruption in otherwise healthy workers does not significantly reduce life expectancy.

However, continuing to carry out complex and potentially dangerous tasks while in a fatigued state most definitely does!

Take some time off.

As the Antipodeans say: It's a requirement.

Are there any changes in your lifestyle that you could make to help the situation?

Yeh sorry, didn't mean to sound crass, but sometimes it's the obvious that helps- swim 20 lengths, and you'll probably sleep well. :)

(I know, I know, I'm not a commercial pilot, don't know the pressures etc,- just doing my bit to try keep chemicals out of patients).

In terms of damage to your body, the fact that your resting is probably as important as the sleep itself.
