I'm sure we've all seen the news but I just spotted this on a website, attributed to Reuters...

"LIGHT AIRCRAFT

It's not as safe flying in light aircraft as it is flying in an airline," leading aviation safety expert David Learmont was quoted as saying by the Independent newspaper.

Because it's a light aircraft it does not have as many back-up systems if anything goes wrong. It's partly because they fly from primitive little airstrips and it's partly because the pilots are not professional pilots," said Learmont, who writes for Flight International magazine."

Who is this arsehole, and how much damage is he trying to do to GA?

Inevitably, my sympathies are with the pilots family - I'm sure he was a professional, no doubt doing a difficult job (we've all heard the horror stories about the pressures of these VIP transport jobs) but frankly his memory and his family's peace of mind can do without this.
