FlightSafetyBoeing to Provide Boeing Business Jet Training at New Sites In Year 2000
December 3, 1999 9:56 PM EST

SEATTLE, Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- FlightSafety Boeing Training International L.L.C. in cooperation with FlightSafety International and Boeing Business Jets recently announced plans to provide Boeing Business Jet customers with comprehensive flight training at the Atlanta, Georgia FlightSafety International facility. FlightSafetyBoeing will install a Boeing Next-Generation 737 simulator at the FSI Atlanta facility with a ready-for-training date of July 1, 2000.

"FlightSafetyBoeing is delighted to be Boeing Business Jets' training partner and to provide the world-class equipment and facilities our customers expect," said Jon Pollack, FlightSafetyBoeing managing director of Boeing Business Jets Training.

"With our customers, training and support are key elements," said Borge Boeskov, president of Boeing Business Jets, "and the FlightSafetyBoeing 'Service Ready Training Program' gives BBJ buyers the best there is in crew training. We're very proud of our association with FightSafety Boeing Training International."

FlightSafetyBoeing will provide BBJ customers and other Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft operators a complete offering of Next-Generation 737 pilot training services at the new state-of-the-art FlightSafety Atlanta Training Center. FlightSafety International is undergoing a major project to construct a 100,000 sq.ft. two-story training facility to replace the existing center alongside the Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport in Georgia. It has been designed to accommodate 15 full-flight simulators and will benefit from the array of facilities on offer at the nearby airport.

The Level "D" Boeing Next-Generation 737 simulator is being built by FlightSafety International Simulator Systems Division and will be completed by April 2000 for delivery to the FlightSafety Atlanta Training Center. FlightSafetyBoeing will provide corporate and recurrent training at the Atlanta site in addition to another location that will help support operations with easier access to the East Coast of North America.

The simulator is designed to provide training for the BBJ, which is a high-performance derivative of the Boeing Next-Generation 737-700. It combines the size of the 737-700 fuselage (110 feet 4 inches, 33.6 meters) with strengthened wings and landing gear from the larger and heavier 737-800. This tailored combination provides owners with a business jet platform that has a range of 7,140 statue miles (6,200 nautical miles, 11,480 kilometers).

The BBJ 2 is a larger version of the BBJ, identical in basic configuration except for the fuselage, which is the 737-800 fuselage instead of the 737-700 fuselage. The -800 is 20 feet longer, giving it 25% more floor space and more than twice the cargo space.

FlightSafety Boeing Training International L.L.C. recently broke ground for a 32,800 sq. ft. UK flight training centre near London Luton Airport. The FSBTI UK Limited London-Luton Regional Training Centre will initially serve Monarch Airlines Limited, easyJet Airline Co. Ltd., and Britannia Airways, Ltd.; each of which are based at London Luton Airport. FlightSafetyBoeing will provide Boeing 737-300, 737-700/-800 and 757-200 full-flight simulators, classrooms, instructors and related services in the modern facility.

Boeing Business Jets Training anticipates beginning implementation of a BBJ training program at Luton in the Year 2000.

With 18 locations, 50 full-flight simulators in operation or soon to be delivered, and over 600 employees, FlightSafety Boeing Training International is the world's largest and most comprehensive provider of airline training. The independent company, co-owned by FlightSafety International and The Boeing Company, specializes in flight and technical training in airplanes of 100 seats or more, including Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, Airbus and Fokker models. The company also serves as the official training provider for Boeing Commercial Airplanes Group.
