BIDjet.com Teams With IPIX in Launching First Jet Aircraft-Trading Floor
December 1, 1999 7:31 AM EST

FREDERICK, Md., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- BIDjet.com, Ltd. has launched the first transactional-based eCommerce aircraft trading floor that will help business aircraft buyers and sellers reduce their total cost of aircraft ownership during aircraft acquisition and disposal cycles. BIDjet.com's Trading Floor caters to owner-to-owner transactions and allows sellers to feature aircraft using Interactive Pictures' (Nasdaq: IPIX) IPIX(TM) images and to display maintenance records and log books so that inspections can be performed on its Trading Floor. BIDjet.com also provides a means for buyers to transmit offers directly to sellers.

BIDjet.com was developed by experienced aircraft sales and technology experts to function as a web-based communications platform with the first ever flat-rate pricing model. Principal buyers and sellers of jet and turbo-prop aircraft who want to reduce costs when buying and selling aircraft can use BIDjet to conduct their business. IPIX allows prospective buyers to 'step inside' the picture, looking in any direction from left to right and floor to ceiling. This gives visitors the opportunity to visually inspect all aspects of an aircraft's interior, eliminating the time and expense required in traveling to the aircraft's location.

Bruce Bates, BIDjet's president, announced. "We spoke with jet owners and learned people wanted a low cost, efficient way to buy and sell aircraft. In building our business, we looked at the auction model but it was inadequate to handle the intricacies of multi-million dollar transactions. After our analysis, we built BIDjet.com to serve our customers more directly. BIDjet will streamline the sales process by making total aircraft information available so that inspections can be done quickly. IPIX is the best way to promote and visually inspect aircraft online."

Bruce Bates, commented, "The main advantage for buyers and sellers use of BIDjet's Trading Floor is that our fees are published, and are so low. There is no longer any need to utilize brokers who may attempt to build a large margin of profit between the buyer and seller, thereby making the transaction more time consuming and difficult."

David B. Loken, BIDjet's vice-president and an attorney, commented, "We want to represent buyers and sellers in a fiduciary capacity. Unlike real estate, there is no regulation in the aircraft business, and some agents will conceal the true selling price from the seller and buyer. With our flat rate transaction fees, clients will know precisely what fees are being charged."

Ed Lewis, Vice President of Marketing for IPIX, said "IPIX images are the best way for prospective aircraft buyers to shop online by giving them the satisfaction of knowing the interior of the aircraft without the time and expense of traveling to the plane. IPIX allows BIDjet.com to pass on the savings to the buyer as well as the seller."

If a particular type of aircraft is not posted for sale, BIDjet can conduct a search to meet the buyer's requirements. Sellers of turbo prop and jet aircraft are encouraged to post their information at www.bidjet.com (http://www.bidjet.com)
