Saw this reported in the US today.........

It's been a tough few months for the folks at Teledyne Continental Motors. For most of 1998, a hydraulic press used to assemble crankshafts for its most popular engine series -- the 470, 520 and 550 big-bore sixes -- was misadjusted. The press managed to damage the super-hard nitride coating on numerous crankshafts, producing a stress riser. In turn, a few of the crankshafts failed, resulting in engine failure. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries -- except perhaps to TCM's bank account and to its reputation.

TCM as usual handled this problem very well, with the minimum of cost and inconvenience to all.
Have you visited this site http://www.avweb.com/oshkosh/osh99/
apart for all the great OshKosh stuff there is an announcement from TCM.
Subscribing to the Avweb.com site is a great way to keep up to date with breaking news on all manner of industry things, including the TCM business a month or so ago.
From my experience with the press most aviation articles, unless there is death or destruction, are usually fillers on quiet days
