Seen several American registered biz-jets using a T prefix before their registration as a callsign, just wondered if there was any reason for this. Thanks for any help.

'Tis a temporary requirement for FAR135 carriers that do not have a designated company call sign.

Is it ? Never heard of that. In my company (135 as well), we use the a/c model (Citation, Falcon, etc) followed by the last bit of the registration.

411A is not completely correct. It is not a temporary thing. It has always been a suggested method to ID a Part135 flight. It has been listed in the AIM for many years. Until the resent events and restrictions, almost NO Part 135 operator without a call sign used it. Mostly from fear of inviting ramp checks and increased FAA oversight. And additonal and/or increased fees. When air carrier flights were allowed to operate again, all 135 operators that wanted to conduct flights, had to use the Tango prefix.

Generally not restricted so long as the max gross weight of the aircraft does not exceed 95,000 pounds. The NBAA website www.nbaa.org (http://www.nbaa.org) has the information.
