Hi, I have started PPL training, and going solo in the next two to three weeks. I have to have my medical and student PPL in order for that time. As I intend to follow a CPL course directly after finishing PPL (in the next year) I would like to do a class one medical rather than a class two and then a class one next year. Is this possible, or do I have to sit a class two before an initial class one.

Cheers, Dave

Yes a class 1 medical will supercede a class 2, and act as a valid class 2 for 5 years.

Hello Dave, you do not have to sit a class 2 medical before a class 1, the class one is needed for professional training. The class one can be got from the Aeromedical centre in Dublin.
