I'm humbled by my lack of knowledge about PNG flying and seek guidance (I suppose I should be humbled about my lack of knowledge about most things). Are there any safety stats for PNG and airlines that fly there and intra, or any comments about Air Nuigini or Air PNG?

Proper stats might be hard to find...:hmm: PNG does not have a proper crash investigation system really.
There are not many options to choose from: Air Niugini, Airlines PNG, and Airlink. They are the only ones that offer regular RPT services. Only speaking from personal opinion, but I would select in that order also for domestic travel. Airlines PNG are using Ozjet B737s for international competition with Air Niugini and seem to offer a good/safe service.
