Hello all,

I have a type rating on the CE550. So I can fly a 551 (single pilot variant <12500 MTOW) as part of a multi crew. How do I go about obtaining the aditional rating to fly the 551 single pilot? I know single pilot ops would only be for non-commercial flights. In the states they seem to think hell the 550 rating covers the 551 but not so here in JAA. I've asked the CAA and they said to ask flight safety. I've contacted flight safety and they quote a further 10 hours simulator at €12000.

If anyone has been through this could you let me know how you did it. Some people seem to think that i simply have to pass a single pilot LPC.

Any hints?

The 500/550/560 is a typerating, the 501/551 is a classrating.

Meaning: same airplane, apart from the manual, different rating. NOT a differencial course, a full rating.

At least thats what the LBA (german authority) says.

CAA should know IMO.
