I remember reading somewhere ('Aeroplane', I think) a few years back, that an airworthiness Sword of Damocles awaits flyable Spits in the form of the non-availability of a brake part. Dunlop have recently ceased the manufacture of the unique pneumatic sac (not sure if that's the word) which operates inside the wheel, and that there is no substitute; so when these parts get time-expired..............

Does anyone know if this is still the case? And are any Spits close to this point?

Kev.

They are still available, Indeed it would be possible to remanufacture them if needed, if not costly... so I wouldn't worry to much on that score.... I believe Dunlop recently dusted off the old moulds and did a new production run of tyres for the BOBMF so anything is possible...

BTW seeming you like spits and things, these links below are only up for a short period and ARE MY COPYRIGHTED PICTURES.

If you want I could let you have some of the Rolls Royce Mk19 undergoing her engine change at the moment... PM Me for details.

beware they are big big big :)
